Tree Injection, also known as stem or trunk injection, is the method of a precisely targeted application of beneficial naturally occurring compounds, fungicides and pesticides straight into the tree’s vascular system.
By injecting straight into the tree there is no risk of leaching with no contamination of groundwater or negative effects on neighbouring plants or risk to non-target species.
This can add a vital kick to the tree’s natural immune system, helping it fight a wide variety of diseases, such as Bacterial Bleeding Canker in Horse Chestnuts and Acute Oak Decline in Oak trees and yes even Ash Dieback in Ash Trees.
We start by measuring the height of the trees and Dbh, to determine the volume of liquid needed, the number of injectors, and what system of injection we’re going to use before mixing the required solution and preparing the injectors
We have two very different Tree Injection Systems
Where we are injecting for targeted Insect control we use the Chemjet system. After drilling a small diameter hole the low-pressure injectors are inserted into the tree and the process can begin, with the tree determining its rate of uptake rather than relying on a more traditional high-pressure method that could potentially damage the vascular system.
For a targeted tree health boost and treatment of specific tree diseases such Ash Dieback or Bacterial Bleeding Canker, we use the less invasive BITE system. With this, we drive a small blade into the vascular system before screwing on a cocktail of beneficial liquids that can boost a tree’s natural immune system as well as introducing specific compounds to prevent a host of diseases from becoming established and treat existing diseases. This method is more of an infusion method rather than an injection and is safe for all tree types.
Once the compounds are absorbed the injectors are removed and disinfected, to prevent cross-contamination, and are ready for the next tree injection treatment.
